Privacy and terms

How BeeBhakti handles information and the terms that apply when using the website.

What we collect

BeeBhakti collects only what you choose to give us.

If you sign up for the newsletter, we receive your email address, and use it for nothing except sending that newsletter. Your address is kept in our own database, with the date you gave it, until you unsubscribe — every newsletter carries a one-click unsubscribe link. If you submit an event, we receive the details you enter (the gathering information, your name, your email and your relationship to the gathering) and use them only to review and publish your gathering.

If you create a free account, it includes the newsletter: your email address is added when you create it, and you can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every newsletter, without affecting your account.

If you create a free account, we hold your email address and, only if you choose to share them, your personalisation preferences: where you would like to discover bhakti, your interests, how you like to participate, and how you describe your experience with bhakti. These answers are used solely to make BeeBhakti more relevant to you. They are never shown publicly, never shared with anyone, and you can change or clear them from your account at any time.

Member accounts run on Supabase, the service that provides our login and database. It holds your account email, a securely stored password, your saved gatherings and the preferences above, and nothing else. Supabase processes this data on our behalf and never uses it for anything of its own. To close your account and erase everything it holds, write to us and we will do it promptly.

Newsletter signups and event submissions arrive in our inbox through formsubmit.co, the form-delivery service that processes submissions on our behalf.

We count visits with GoatCounter, an open-source, privacy-friendly counter: no cookies, no personal profiles, and no tracking across other websites. It simply tells us how many people visited and which pages they read. We use no advertising or tracking cookies, and we never sell or share any information with anyone.

One other service is contacted by your browser, and only on the gatherings map: Esri supplies the map tiles. Like any website request, it receives your IP address, and nothing you have typed. The site's typefaces are served by BeeBhakti itself, so no font service is contacted.

ABeeC

If you use ABeeC while signed in, we keep two things with your account: the ABeeC doors you choose, and the last one you opened, so you can continue on any device. ABeeC does not keep an account history of the doors or content you browse. Neither is shown to anyone or shared. You can change your doors at any time, and both are erased with your account.

How we measure whether BeeBhakti helps

When you tap “Gathering information and registration”, the link goes through beebhakti.com for a moment before it opens the organiser’s page. We record that a click happened: which gathering it was for, which website it went to, roughly what kind of device it came from, and the day. We add utm_source=beebhakti to the address so the organiser can see in their own analytics that BeeBhakti sent you.

We also count how many times each gathering’s page is opened and where on the site it was opened from, and we record the filters used in a search together with how many results came back. A search that finds nothing tells us what the bhakti world is asking for and BeeBhakti does not yet have, which is the most useful thing this site can learn.

None of this uses a cookie, and none of it is used to identify you. Clicks are grouped by a one-way code made from your network address and browser, which changes every day and is never turned back into anything about you. Page views and searches are grouped by a random code that exists only while the tab is open. Known search-engine and preview robots are marked as such and left out of every figure.

Because it is kept this light and is never used to identify anyone, we rely on our legitimate interest in learning whether BeeBhakti helps, rather than asking for consent. You can object at any time by writing to us, and the site works exactly the same either way.

What organisers and partners see

Only counts. Never people.

An organiser can be told how many times their gathering was viewed, how many people saved it and how many went through to their own site. They are never shown, and can never ask for, who those people were: no email address, no name, no list of who saved what, no individual’s activity. The same is true of anyone BeeBhakti ever works with.

BeeBhakti does not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone, for any amount, ever. This is not a policy that changes if the numbers get interesting.

How long we keep it

Submission details are kept for as long as your listing is live, so we can reach you about it. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. To unsubscribe, correct, or erase anything we hold about you, write to us, see below, and we will do it promptly.

What your browser keeps

BeeBhakti sets no cookies. To make the site work the way you asked, your browser keeps a few small notes on your own device.

If you sign in, your login, so you stay signed in. If you save gatherings or follow facilitators, that list, so it is there when you come back. Your choice of light or dark appearance. The place and answers you choose to share for personal suggestions. Which welcome notes you have already seen, so they are not shown twice. A sign-up in progress, so you return to the right page after confirming your email.

These notes stay in your browser. Nobody else can read them, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes them all.

Why we use your data

Newsletter: because you asked for it, or created an account that includes it. You can stop it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.

Account, saved gatherings and follows: to provide the account you created.

The preferences you choose to share: because you chose to share them. You can clear them from your account at any time.

Gathering submissions and messages: to review and publish your gathering, or to answer you, as you asked.

Visit counts and click measurement: our legitimate interest in knowing whether BeeBhakti helps people find gatherings, in a way that is never used to identify you.

Donations and Honeybee membership payments are handled by Stripe, which is responsible for your payment details under its own privacy policy. If you become a Honeybee member, we keep with your account that you are a member, your monthly amount, the dates it started, renews or ends, and Stripe’s reference for it: to provide the membership you chose and show it in your account.

Who is responsible for your data

BeeBhakti is run by Tulsi Prema Devi Dasi, who is responsible for the personal data described here (the data controller). For anything about your data, write to hello@beebhakti.com.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it erased, to receive a copy, or to object to how we use it. Write to us and we will reply within one month.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Where your data is processed

A small number of trusted services help run BeeBhakti: Supabase (accounts and database), formsubmit.co (form delivery), GoatCounter (visit counts), Stripe (donations and Honeybee membership payments), Cloudflare Turnstile (the security check on sign-up and log-in), Esri (map tiles) and our web host. Some of them may process data outside the UK and the European Union. Where they do, they rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.

Listings

Sharing a gathering on BeeBhakti is free, and stays free. There is no listing fee, no payment step and no paid option at any point, before, during or after review.

We review every offering personally. If we publish it, your gathering stays listed until it has passed; for a self-paced or ongoing offering, until the date you gave us. If we decline it, nothing is owed and you are welcome to share another.

We may remove a listing that breaches these terms or misrepresents a gathering. BeeBhakti is a discovery platform: gatherings are organised and run by their organisers, who remain responsible for them.

Donations and Honeybee membership payments are handled through Stripe: your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch BeeBhakti.
